The separation of parties gets in the way of the productivity we need to actually get more things done. A person of the Democratic party will take care of certain issues and a person of the Republican party will take care of another but neither can pleasantly work together. There's just fighting. Things for housing help/lower rent, lower childcare prices, jobs etc. should all be federal and even across the board. Those are things left for the state legislation, which is why everything is so different between the states. Still mainly due to the separation of the parties and it needs to change for the good of all the people.
