Because he has enamel hypoplasia from being so premature. I went to 4 different pediatric dentists before I found one I was comfortable with. He gets laughing gas, they numb it and drill/fill. He’s even gotten crowns. Several wanted to put him under and that was NOT happening. One wanted me to leave the room and I walked out then and there. No way will you touch my kid without me there. Our pedi dentist is AMAZING. Find the right one.
My DD has 2 😣 she has to be put under next month to get them filled because she won’t let them touch her AT ALL. She literally fist fought the dentist just trying to get simple X-rays.
We explained that she just needed to bite down on the film and we were just taking pictures of her teeth and nope 👎🏼 she was not having any of it, so there’s no way they’ll get fillings done with just gas.
My youngest had 3 she refused to let them fill them for years we tried every 6 months or so.. she was 2.5 when we found out and finally got them filled when she was 4.5. They will give laughing gas as well as numbing.
Yes. We just found out my son has 5 cavities and they put Silver Diamine Fluoride on them to stop the cavities from forming more until my son is older because we REFUSE to have him put under.

Yes they did.
They gave her nitrous to calm her nerves and then filled it.
I think it depends on how bad it is and how willing the child is to let them in their mouth.
Definitely get it checked though!
