Is having a family practitioner the same or just as good as a pediatrician for my baby?
Our youngest has special needs and therefor a TEAM of doctors which include a paediatrician. His main provider would be his neurologist and GP simply because the paediatrician prefers his neurologist to lead his care, and GP is simply for prescription refills etc. Our son had a brain injury so naturally his neurologist leads the team as that’s his “speciality”.
If our older two needed a paediatrician for anything our GP would refer them in a heart beat but aside from ear aches and such they’ve not really needed anything more in depth.
Mine has just a GP. His gp is also my gp/obgyn and he's amazing. It probably depends more on the drs personality than the title but that's just opinion.
If we couldn’t have gotten our girls in to the pediatrician we wanted (he is fantastic with great reviews and is up to date on everything) we would have just taken them to our family doc.
@beakymcspence, thank you! I kind of feel like I rather take him to my primary family doctor then get a pediatrician but this is my first so I want to make sure I do the right thing
I prefer family doctor if any. All the peds ive seen are a joke.
