So I’m on day 5 of breast feeding. I woke up yesterday totally engorged & I’m so much pain! I was so rock hard my daughter couldn’t even latch so I started massaging & pumping & feeding her with a bottle. Well today I couldn’t keep up with her demands. She wants more than what I could produce so Iv had to use formula as well :( really didn’t want to but I’m only getting out maybe an ounce 1/2 every few hours & let me tell you it’s WORK just to get that out. Anyone else? Any advice on how to produce more milk?

I did the same for a couple of days once my baby girl was born but once i started to produce more milk i stop the formula. I drink Alot of water and i pump i also eat lactation cookies and im making a decent amount of milk

Pump every 40 minutes throughout the day. Drink lots and lots of water, eat lots of protein, drink Mother’s milk tea, eat things with oatmeal, flaxseeds and peanut butter (if not allergic). You can also pump a little bit after your breast have gone down and then latch her to the breast. She will get the milk the pump won’t.

Some mommas don’t respond to a pump. That may be why your getting so little. Baby nursing at the breast will always remove the milk more efficiently then a pump. If you don’t want to use formula I would if your breast’s are too full to nurse hand express a little or massage and then latch her on:) Remember formula will keep her full longer so she’ll nurse less and you’ll produce less it’s called the top up trap.
If you are planning to do formula and pump and feed her a bottle remember to pace feed:) hope this helps.
