I am 26 expecting my first child. I have never really had one job for over 6months besides one which was a daycare teacher in which I was almost there for two years until the pay just wasn’t enough to keep me, I don’t last long with other jobs because I either grow tired of the employer, I don’t feel respected as an employee, or the work load becomes too much for the amount of pay offered which affects my attitude. Now having someone else depending on me I’m looking for stability! I have completed about 75% of my associates degree and I plan to return to school but I would like suggestions on a career choice that offers great benefits and pay, allows for some independence in the workplace, something routine but not boring, and something that will allow me to still be able to be there and raise my child. PLEASE HELP!!!

Unless you’re doing something you’re passionate about, nothing will be good enough. You need to find your own path. No one can tell you what to do

Doing hair. I do hair and pick my own schedule make good money and benefits

@lizibear84, and I’m not sure what that is just yet. I’m asking for suggestions in the meantime for stability purposes. I don’t expect anyone to tell me what to do just suggest some good paying careers that won’t keep me from missing out on being a mother but will still provide for us until I can come into my purpose.

@andronikiaward, It depends a lot on where you live. Jobs pay different in different states, even different counties. Best way to figure it out it look on job hunting sites for your desired location and pay range, then see what’s available

@ecahanes, I always have had a thing for hair. I’m so very picky about how mine is done and who I let do it but I’ve only been able to do a select few styles, I think I could own a shop and operate the business and hire the cosmetologist and allow for them to basically make my money 🤔

You will have those same issues no matter where you work. Everyone deals with all of that at some point. Sometimes ya just gotta suck it up. Dental hygiene? Massage therapist? RN? Scrub tech? Ultrasound tech? Depends kinda on how much school you’re willing or can do.

@massmomma16, I’m actually finishing up a fast-track dental assisting course, job availability just isn’t looking promising at the moment. 🤦🏾♀️ May have to just press on until I’m able to complete hygienist school. Thank you for the suggestions

@andronikiaward, that’s great! I have a few good friends who do DH. Maybe get ur foot in the door as a receptionist if you have to while finishing school. Most where I live do not have assistants. But the hygienist seem to have it pretty good! Good luck!

@kia_ward26, as a stylist I would only work for someone who does or has done hair. Most salon owners still do hair on the side for money
