My grandmother in-law died last night and I’m 38 weeks pregnant on Monday. The funeral is Wednesday. My fiancé and I and our little boy just moved to Illinois from Pennsylvania...So if we decide to leave tonight to be with my father in-law during this tough time we will be driving 12 hours...I’m so nervous on this long ride thus far in my pregnancy but we have to be there for my father in-law! What to do?!
@massmomma16, I’m going to talk to my fiancé...All this stuff at once 😑 He has to think about missing work also.
@nfb061417, sounds like your gonna go regardless but have you checked you insurance coverage though? You’re lookin at a huge bill if it isn’t! It’s likely your OB will advise against it just as they would with flying.
@nomli, if he’d go himself the only problem is if I’d go into labor there would be nobody to watch our boy. And I’m not worried about if I’d go into labor there because that’s my hometown and I’ve delivered my first born there... just iffy on the drive there.
I doubt your doctor would clear you to go. We had a funeral in SD a few weeks before my due date, and it's a good thing we didn't go because I had my son at 38 weeks. It's probably best for him to go himself, find a cheap plane ticket and have an open return so he can get back quickly if you go into labor early. It's tough, but you don't want to go into labor on the road or at a unfamiliar hospital with doctors who don't know you. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm sure your FIL will understand if you don't go.
I would speak with your OB. Might be best if your fiancé hops on a plane and goes by himself unfortunately
I’m sorry for your loss. I would talk to your ob to see what the safest thing to do.
Sorry for your loss. Honestly that would be hard decision to make. Prayers mama❤
My midwife didn't clear me for a 7 hour drive when I was 35-36 weeks. You need to talk to your doctor.
