I hope I'm making the right decision.... I just found out that my daughter's biological father killed himself on Halloween... We hadn't talked since shortly after we found out that I was pregnant in march 2016. His family didn't even really know that he had a kid at all and he didn't want anything to do with her, cuz he swore that he was sterile, he denied her. But I just found out about his death and reached out to his family to give them the opportunity to be involved if they choose to.

That's really sweet of you. Hopefully they'll be happy that he has a daughter, and it'll be good for them and her.

I think that was very nice of you and might help ease them a little bit.

I think that is very thoughtful! Even though he didn’t want to be involved with her, I think the family should be able to decide that for themselves. It may help the hurt to know a part of him still lives on as well. Also, a good Momma decision, if you ask me! The worse case scenario is things remain the same. BUT if it brings even one family member that will love and support your baby girl then I think that’s worth it!

I would’ve done the same thing.

I’m so sorry for yours and her loss. Even though he wasn’t involved, I’m sure it still effects you on some level. I think you absolutely did the right thing. As others have said, even though he may not have wanted to be involved, his family wasn’t given much of a choice. And now you’ve given that to them. That’s good for your daughter as well.
My mother was in and out of my life. Unstable. Unloving. But her family is one of my biggest blessings and they still mean the world to me. ❤️

You were right... may I ask how they responded?

@airwren123 his girlfriend isn't happy that I contacted any of them because he also told her that he was sterile and she didn't get pregnant or anything and so she's upset and I understand that. However his step mom did respond that if I'm open to a paternity test and it comes back as his that she would talk to the rest of his family about whether or not that wanted to be involved. I only contacted his step mom but someone we were mutual friends with informed his girlfriend about our daughter and the situation so that's how she found out and reacted

@mom2squared @crystalhealing @massmomma16 @babymamaof4 @nomli I just hope that they understand why I didn't tell them because at the time when I found out I was pregnant he became abusive and I couldn't risk her health and safety, so I cut all ties at the time.
MassMomma16·
@1xmom, will you be doing the paternity test?
Monica·
@1xmom, but he didn't tell them either, so it's not your fault that they didn't know. Even if they get mad, it still wasn't your responsibility to tell them, it was his, and unfortunately he didn't, for whatever reason. But even if they decide not to be involved, it is still really thoughtful of you to offer.

@massmomma16 I'm thinking about it because I want them to be in her life if they want to be, and I know she is his biologically, but I haven't said for sure yes or no
