Accidently fell asleep with lo on my chest and now he refuses to sleep anywhere else. I tried putting him back in his own sleep space and he spent the rest of the night screaming, I'd comfort him, put him back but it would happen again. I already feel horrible as is, I know how extremely dangerous it is so please don't bother with the riot act. It doesn't help that a good majority of the time we we're in the NICU he was positioned on his tummy or his side. How do I break this issue while maintaining my sanity?

Dont be so hard on yourself mommy, it happens its what's most comfy for baby, your heartbeat your warmth its safe to them from being in your belly. :) And I've learned to embrace those moments. We are there too. When you lay baby down wrap them in something of yours so your scent is still with baby. I do that a lot and I think it helps. My baby is 6 weeks.

@amyrachellem I hate it because I love the cuddles and having him close and not to mention the time he was on my chest he slept for a few solid hours but with all the pros in that event, it's not worth any faital con.

When I was breastfeeding, I'd fall asleep with my LO on my chest, on accident of course. How ever my back was all fucked from the epidural so I couldn't place him in the crib, like bend over. So I eventually started cosleeping with my bub. Low and behold he is still sleeping with us haha. I was actually more paranoid with him in the crib, because periodically Wed put him in the crib but I'd be up multiple times a night checking on him. Do you have a basinet? They also make cosleepers so the baby can sleep comfy and safe next to you

@bluepenguin we have a co-sleeper that sits on the bed but it's sides are raised. But our bed is too small for the 3 of us. Upgrading to a king very soon.

@x_graveyard_baby_x, I had that issue I’d fall asleep with mine like that too and they’d sleep in bed with me. But when I needed to do things during the day and they wouldn’t sleep in their bed I’d take my shirt off and put it down flat in their bed and put baby on it.

@x_graveyard_baby_x I understand, we have been sleeping in a full for 2 years with Noah, we are finally upgrading to a queen haha...however I'm getting a twin for Noah because I'm going to try to get him to sleep in his own bed , I don't want 4 of us in one bed lol. They love their snuggles!

My son co-slept with us and looking back I wouldn't have it any other way! Maybe you could wait until he is in deep sleep before trying to lay him down. Good luck mama @x_graveyard_baby_x

That’s the only way me and little one can actually get sleep. He sleeps on my chest still at almost 3 months and he’s a big boy! Lol I wouldn’t be able to sleep without him at this point I’d be scared to put him in his bassinet!

I was kind of like that with my first. I couldn't co sleep with my first baby at all! I tried and I got zero sleep. With my second, now its totally different. I think it may come for some parents more easily to co sleep or just to nap together. For other mommies like me it takes being a seasoned parent to kind of realize it will be ok and you can trust yourself. Yes there are precautions you need to take but it will be just fine. I don't sleep with baby all night with us, small bed and dad sleeps like a rock. That's my concern, its not me its him! lol baby and I will nap together in the morning and afternoon and I love it. Especially if he needed the sleep and just wouldn't take take that long needed nap alone. Nap with him! You will both feel better hehe💙❤💙💙❤💙
