Wow it is so strange to me someone would just not prioritize prenatal care. It’s hard to say since you haven’t built a relationship with your care provider.

My appointments are generally fast because I don’t have many questions but I appreciate the urine tests and monitoring of my blood pressure. Generally you don’t get another ultrasound after your anatomy scan unless medically necessary.

It’s pretty typical to not get additional ultrasounds...it’s not her fault you didn’t come in for an appointment for 10 weeks.

@flamingomom, me and my s.o weren’t together I was working 6 days a week 8am-7pm so I did not have time. I did go to the emergency once. But I always felt him kick and never felt anything wrong (if I did I would have went straight to the emergency) but I couldn’t financially go to the hospital or I would not have been able to pay bills. But we recently got back together and I now went. The thing is she didn’t ask for a urine for test she straight up said “we need to do your drug screening”. How do they even know if the baby is in the right position for labor? It just doesn’t make sense to me that’s why I asked. I tried to explain my situation, it’s not that I didn’t prioritize my prenatal care but I couldn’t at the moment.

@jellybeans33, I never said it was her fault? But I explained my situation and she looked at me like I was the worse person in the world because I needed to pay bills. If I felt my baby moving everyday and I knew nothing was wrong then I was fine with it. I wasn’t going to loose my apartment and loose everything over missing a days of work.. I needed to make sure my baby had a roof to come home to. But now that we are back together it’s much easier because there is 2 incomes and money isint a issue for me anymore.

@itty_bitty, I wasn’t demanding it, I asked her and she looked at me like I asked her for a million dollars is what I was getting at. I wasn’t able to work I needed to make sure my baby had a roof over his head and now I’m able to do that and go to my appointments without worrying because me and my s.o got back together

@itty_bitty, because I had 2 incomes and suddenly did not have them. So that ment long hours and work 6 days a week. Neglecting my unborn child because I was making sure he had a roof over his head? Neglecting him by not going to a 5 minute appointment to get my blood pressure taken and to get drug screening and get a packet that says what to expect at however many weeks? I’m not making excuses for anything but everybody’s situation is different. And neglecting my unborn child is the last thing I did.

@mylitasilva, that lady is always so negative! Not the first time I notice it!! I hope things work out with you & I hope you can get an ultrasound soon I would call ahead of time

Some obs just tend to be super busy. My appointments were never over 5 minutes. You definitely won't get an ultrasound anymore after your 20 week anatomy scan unless you go somewhere to pay for ultrasounds,thats what I did. I'm sorry that happen to you hope all gets better! Maybe get government assistance if money is an issue?

U didnt need to miss a whole day of work but im sure if u had a Drs note u missing a hour or 2 would be excused... then you could go back to work after your appointment.... i mean when u have a newborn you have to go to alot of appointments so its important that you prioritize your prenatal care so it can lead to you prioritizing your childs care. As long as u have a note you shouldve been excused from missing a little bit of work

Your prenatal care is important, and you wouldn’t have had to miss a whole day at work to go to your appointment. An hour or two at the maximum! You would have been given a doctors note and it would have been excused. Not having money isn’t an excuse because pregnancy Medicaid is a thing and you could have utilized that. Of course your OB wasn’t going to give you an ultrasound at random, there’s no point past your 20 week anatomy scan to do so unless you have health issues. Unfortunately for you, you’re going to have to shell out money you didn’t want to shell out before and get a private scan if you want one since you didn’t go see your OB for 10 weeks. My OB made me give a urine sample at every single appointment and I’ve never done drugs, so that’s normal.

What are you going to do when you have an infant and you have to miss time at work for appointments? Going from 2 incomes down to 1 and back to having 2 incomes is no excuse. Please make sure you go to all of your upcoming appointments and take better care of yourself as far as that goes. It’s important.

Doctors do not do ultrasounds without medical reason or they will not get paid. It is typical to have your last ultrasound at 19 weeks. If you want one you need to go to a private place and pay out of pocket. You are only 32 weeks so the position baby is in right now isn’t a big deal. When baby is bigger, the doctor will be able to feel where baby’s head is and know if she’s head down or not. You are def overreacting about the ultrasound. She may have an attitude against you since you neglected prenatal care and then expected an ultrasound right then and there but you can always try switching doctors 🤷‍♀️

I mean... I can understand where you're coming from, you're trying to be logical, but... should have made the time to get the 20 week scan at least. I can't see your job firing you for missing an hour or two one day. That 20 week is so important, they check to make sure organs and stuff are developing normal. Unfortunately because you decided, as good as you think your reason might be, that you were going to not go to your checkups, so missing over 10 weeks of prenatal care is not good enough reason to be given an ultrasound outside of medical concerns. I can't know how she was acting towards you, but you are overreacting to the urine sample and ultrasounds.

And checking your blood pressure is super important during pregnancy, you also missed the glucose test. I'm sure you don't have gestational diabetes or pre eclampsia, but better to be safe than sorry. The position of the baby is not an issue at 30 weeks, baby still has 10 more weeks to go in the right position.

@mylitasilva, my ob felt my first baby’s positioning with his hands. You don’t need an ultrasound for that

@sweetsap88, the last apppintment I had was the big ultrasound where they check every body part, I could be over reacting but I don’t think I am. She was very rude and the first thing she asked for was a drug screening? I don’t think it’s right
