What does lactose sensitivity in a breast fed baby look like? I’m exclusively pumping at the moment but he has started to spit it up and I just noticed it’s when I drink dairy!

It could be spit up, it could be mucous in the poop, could be blood in the poop. Butt rashes etc

I mean if you notice he does it when you consume dairy that’s a pretty good indication but it could also be gas/fussiness after feedings, sore bum when you change him, rashes on the body etc.

@k_nc, I’m just not 100% sure because since I’m pumping and I’ve fed him from the bags I’ve had stored and can’t remember for exactly sure or not if those ones were pumped when I drank milk. Like I’m 75% sure but still don’t remember. He has a lot of gas in general. I use Dr Browns bottles but he seems to have so much gas. I burp him after every ounce as wel.

@kayladawn9715, I would say cut out all dairy for 2 weeks (that’s how long it takes to filter out of your milk) and see if there’s any improvement. My son was the same I couldn’t have any dairy and had to donate all the milk I pumped because I was consuming dairy during that time. It sucks and it’s a long process but it might be really beneficial for you guys!

@k_nc, thank you!! I guess I’ll have to give it a go! Either it’s the milk or it’s from too much gas getting trapped in his stomach. I don’t know. I’ll try with cutting out dairy though

Do you mark your pumped milk? Make sure it’s date AND timed and specify that it’s after you stopped dairy.
