Hey Momma’s! I know the age guidelines for car seats whn switching from rear to front facing. I did my research on it. When you finally started forward facing ur car seat, how did you determine whether you were placing it in the middle or the side?
You want to put the seat where you get the best install. Whether with seat belt or latch hooks not both. And remember to top tether the seat as well.
@madukes, bec the sides have the chest seat belts that side thru the back so it’s just double belt for me lol versus the middle I just have a lap belt
@danad269, oh ok me too. I was told the middle was safer. But I dont really like how open he is to the windshield.
@madukes, I was always told which could be wrong if you can put the car seat in the middle. So if you get sideswiped and doors go in it hopefully then doesn’t hit the child. I see where @tailsofmomme, says seatbelts seems better on the outside , they lock in.
@madukes, what car seat are you using? I’m using the graco 4ever for my son.
Not the car seat but the car you’re using. The car seat is fit to go anywhere but the car manufacturer gives you guidelines.
@amouryaya09, oh ok i didnt know they made car seats that would only allow tou to put the car seat in a specific spot. Interesting.
It depends on what your car manual says usually. Mine has the latches and it requires me to use them for the car seat. They are on both sides of the car.
@tailsofmomme, I didnt even think about that. I just thought put it where u want it, not because the seatbelt is more secure. If you don’t mind me asking, how was it more secure for you?
Also a lot of cars do not have anchors for the middle so if you are installing in the middle make sure because graco doesn't allow latch borrowing (using one anchor from each outer seat). Statistically the middle is the safest but not if you can't get a good tight instal there.
