If I could go back and give my postpartum self some advice, here’s what I’d say:
It won’t last forever. This feeling of being… lost. You are not lost you are just transitioning. Language is everything.
...
I hear a lot of people refer to “postpartum depression” as just “postpartum”. Here’s the problem with that.
...
The word postpartum means after childbirth. Meaning the time after a woman has had a baby. Okay, what’s the point?.
...
We need to understand that the postpartum period is fragile. It is a transition. It is filled with many physical and spiritual adjustments. It is an entity of its own. Going through the metamorphosis of motherhood after birth is completely different than experiencing a perinatal mood disorder. Caring for a mother with depression versus a mother that is not depressed but going through the intense stages of healing and caring for a newborn looks different.
...
I feel that the more we just lump “postpartum” experiences all into one category the more we miss out on truly understanding the differences in those experiences. Especially understanding that a woman in the postpartum period might not be depressed but still might be in a very fragile place.

I LOVE this ! As someone who suffered pretty severe PPD I always want to help others that may be in that situation . It was hell and I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy
