My doc was going to do mine the day after I had Vee- I changed my mind

I'm not sure if it's any different but I had a c section and my son was sent to the nicu but they bought a breast pump into my room and made me pump right then and there so he could have the liquid gold.

If you don’t have a c section, they tend to wait 6-8 pp to do it. It’s an outpatient procedure, so you could probably pump and get a stash big enough to get your through that day.

You can ask at your 6 weeks post delivery check up. Its only done on delivery day if you have a schedule csection which is what we will be doing.

In my experience on L&D they won’t schedule a csection simply because someone wants their tubes tied it generally has to be warranted with medical reason ❤️

@beakymcspence i have a personal medical problem but they are going to put me on preventive medication starting at 30 or 35 weeks, because of it i had intially wanted a csection to avoid any risks (i also dont want to have to take preventive medication seeing as i wont even take tylenol this pregnancy) but my doc refused and said they are going to do the preventive meds anyway and that i have no other choice they want me to have a vaginal birth. Im just sick of feeling unheard :/

@snowy_owl9, You definitely should never feel unheard, and that’s unfair!

I work on L&D and generally unless the condition directly effects pregnancy they won’t offer a csection unless it’s deemed necessary. That being said I don’t know your situation so can’t comment ❤️

Are they feeling preventative medication is the only option? Would a csection cancel out the need of the medication? If the medication would be started at 30-35 weeks that’s before when they’d consider even doing a csection anyways so it’s likely not related to the medication in that aspect.

I know for us our only option is the csection so we don’t have much leeway there unfortunately 😑

@beakymcspence the condition can directly affect my son during child birth, they said medicating will erase the need for csection (but as i said i get nervous because i wont even take tylenol) if I had a C-section there would be no need for the medication. I'm actually waiting for my doctor to call now so I can discuss but even my husband said that if I'm more comfortable with a C-section we would gladly pay out-of-pocket on a payment plan to ensure my comfort. we suggested that to the doctor he shut me down really fast, didn't even entertain the thought

@snowy_owl9, I’m assuming your speaking of something that’s possibly a risk of transmission during child birth, which would warrant medication before hand.

Generally at our hospital this would be something considered safe with the medication, BUT the choice would be left with the parents solely. I’ve dealt with similar cases on the regular.

I think if you firmly take your concerns to your doctor and explain this is what your comfortable with, then there may be a better response.

Often I find doctors will try and go the more cost effective route, as many hospitals are cracking down on how “willy nilly” csections are being handed out as they say. In the end either way whether medicated OR csection both would be considered equal options neither would be more effective then the other, but you should have a choice babe and I hear that.
