Any tips on transioning from bottle feeding to exclusively breastfeeding. I have to use a sheild in order for him to latch but should only have to do that for a few more weeks. I want to do bottles as their needed.

Try taking the shield away during the feeding. Keep working at it.

I had the double shield container. Keep one shield fully intact- Using the other, start cutting away bits of the silicon to expose more of your flesh. Use it for a couple feedings, then take it away all together. 😊 hope this works for you like it did me!

Do skin to skin when feeding. Change the diaper if baby is sleepy and you need to wake them. Feed every 2-3 hours, with 8-12 feedings.

They never really explained why we would need the sheild other than "because he's a preemie".

@x_graveyard_baby_x There could be a couple reasons....mine needed a shield because their mouth was too little to take the nipple. Once it was time I would just take the shield away and try to get them to latch without it. Sometimes they would feed someone's they would get frustrated so I would place it back on. Eventually their mouth was big enough and it was more frustrating for them to have the shield than not.
