This is going to be a long post.. my son will be 7 months old on the 21st .. on October 7th my son was having trouble breathing because he was so congested so brought him to the ER and we got transferred to strong.. he had to have 4 breathing treatments between 4 am and 11 am that day and also fluids in his iv as well.. they found out that he had croup. They kept us over night to monitor him and we got to go home the next day in the afternoon. Since then he has not gotten any better with the stuffy nose and he still has a cough. He had a fever of 101 when we went to the Er. He hadnt had a fever since that Sunday the 7th until Wednesday. Wednesday it was 102. Thursday morning it was 103.4 and then last night it went to 102. Yesterday i took him to his pediatrician and they just said he caught another virus and to alternate Tylenol and Motrin..This morning it was 103.8.... i don’t get what can be causing such high fevers ... also he hasn’t filled a diaper yet and he usually does after he drinks his 6 oz bottle he has every morning...I’m at a loss at what could be going on... how long should i wait for his diaper to fill up before i bring him to strong? I know for a fact if his fever spikes again were bringing him but him not filling his diaper yet is kind of worrying me..

I think doctors told me after like 12 hours of no wet diaper to bring him in. But with the fever and cough I don’t know if that changes the standard to come in quicker. All depends how long he hasn’t had a wet diaper.

@kbbaybee16, i mean it’s wet but not a lot .. its way to small considering he’s had it on for 5 hours .. he usually pees a lot

Some pee is still better than no pee. Unfortunately they probably won’t do anything if he still has urine output. Push fluids Amd if he eats solids at all things like watermelon and cantaloupe help rehydrate since they are mostly water

Def bring him in for his fever, but since he has one it’s likely that he won’t produce as much urine as usual. Personally, that diaper looks full to me. So like PP said, I don’t think they will do anything since he’s putting out fluids, but better safe than sorry. Hope little man feels better! 💕

@littleonemorning, his fever is down , and that’s a very dry diaper for him especially after he drinks his bottle in the am it’s usually really full . If he spikes a fever again I’ll be bringing him to be seen

@walkmavs_mom, but since he’s sick, his body is probably working through it. When D was sick he wouldn’t pee as much and I was super concerned, but the doctors said if he has a completely dry diaper after like 12 hrs (I think) then bring him in.

@walkmavs_mom, D was sick in July and I was so concerned about his fever, so we took him in and alllllll doctors said the fever was a good thing. Can you call an on call nurse and ask at was temperature you should bring him in? Poor little Mav. I hate when babies are sick.

@littleonemorning, my step mom is an rn and she said that the 103.8 is scary because it’s so close to 104 and after that they can have a seizure because it’s so high and it’s not like it’s just been going on for a day it’s been going on for 3 days 😐 at night is when it spikes idk
