Please no negative comments on this cuz i already feel like a horrible mom over what happened last night.. I decided I wanted to take a bath and shave my legs, my boyfriend was gone helping his dad with some stuff and so it was just me and our daughter. I was shaving my leg and she put her hand right on my leg and I accidentally cut her finger tips on two fingers, cuz I was rushing to finish shaving too quickly. Now I immediately freaked out and called a neighbor to help me apply pressure and get her out of the tub so that I could get out and take care of her. I got the bleeding to stop after about 5-7 minutes and put antibiotic ointment and bandaids on the cuts. called my mom and my boyfriend to get them here. (My mom used to be a nurse and has had 6 kids of her own and ran her own daycare). My mom got here and assessed my daughter and made sure it wasn't something that required an er visit, cuz to be honest I was a train wreck freaking out and crying and all over worrying and everything, and I told her that I wanted to take her to the doctor this morning just to have her doctors opinion on what to do exactly. I stayed up most of the night just watching her and holding her. She is doing good, sleeping right now, but like I said I'm going to be taking her to the doctor in just a few hours when they open

At this point it’s too late for stitches or glue if she needed it, so if she’s not acting in pain or there’s no sign of infection- no need to take her in.

@laniejay i just want to take her in to make sure she doesn't need antibiotics or anything like that, she's acting normal but just to be safe I want to take her in

I’d skip the pedi for now. (Unless your gut says something is wrong. Always trust your gut) if she’s acting fine and there is no sign of infection. Antibiotics should only be given if absolutely necessary and only in certain instances preventatively.

The same thing happened with my daughter when she was around the same age. I was shaving and she stuck her hand in. I was freaking out bad too but she was okay and didn’t need stitches.

@denessev I was a wreck last night and feel horrible still this morning. It got to the point that I was crying and shaking and freezing but sweaty and lightheaded and couldn't even stand up I was so upset that she got hurt and i blame myself cuz I was in such a hurry to get my legs shaved and get out to let her play in fresh water by herself but when she got hurt i rushed out of the tub wrapped a clean rag on her hand and had a neighbor come over to keep pressure on it while I got dressed and dressed her real quick and bandaged her up and just held her all night and I'm still holding her

Aww. Things happen and you didn't mean too. Just keep it clean.

It could be worse.. My older sister left a razor on the tub. My niece was 3 at the time and went potty. She ended up shaving her tongue!
Don’t beat yourself up. Just learn from it. Like @laniejay said, just monitor her.
