I need reassurance 😖
I'm getting Mirena put in tomorrow morning and I'm really nervous about it.
I've never been on any kind of birth control or had any kind of invasive procedure done (aside from all the crazy stuff during my induction). It just freaks me out. I need to sleep!!!
It's fine. Just a sharp cramp at first and some minor cramping later on. Take an Aleve or Ibuprofen before you go. The first 6 months can be cray cray. Periods out of whack, cramping here and there, moodiness. But that's birth control, its hormones, so no one gets preggers. I've had it for almost 2 years and I don't even have periods anymore. I have what I call invisible periods, lol. I still get PMS and bloating occasionally. But the plus is that I haven't gotten pregnant.
It’s actually relatively simple. Just like a Pap smear like @lillynellasmom said. Takes a few minutes. (I’m blanking on what the tool is called) they open you up, like for a Pap smear, place it, trim the strings, voila! You leave 😅 you’ll do good! New things are always scary so I understand 💪🏻
So, update:
I guess everything really is different for everyone because that hurt like hell!!!! I had to breathe like I was in labor and brace myself against the wall because the urge to writhe in pain was so strong. I was really surprised it was that bad 😕 At least it's over!
Thanks, you guys, for the reassurance. It helped!
