Anyone else's child need speech because they just refuse to say things even though they know what…

My son needs speech and he's 4 tubes in his ears will have nothing to do with his speech development it just takes time it took my daughter till 3 to actually get her words out right

Most kids don't really start blossoming in their speech until after they are 2. I was concerned about my son as well and I had him evaluated at 18m and was told he's fine and should be speaking more once he turns 2 and he did. Now he talks like crazy. Still doesn't speak good sentences but he will, he learns new words and phrases all the time. So give him time... I'll also recommend if he has a pacifier to break him from it now. That prevented my son from speaking properly.

My sons were the same. They didn't want to talk and the fits were endless. They got evaluated for developmental delay and autism. Sometimes they really can't help it and aren't doing it to be stubborn. They just get fed up that they can't communicate to get what they want.

@ladyblauvelt my son has never taken a pacifier. He was nursed up until a month in a half ago. @cierralhoffman he says a few words I understand even if they're not the actual word but I figured if I say it to him a few times as I hand it to him or asking him if that's what he wants he would at least try to say the word but he doesn't. He just replied with yes or no because it's not it and keeps pointing throwing a fit. @mumma_of2 that's what they're going to do here. He's getting his first one when ever they call me back.

It just takes time my son stutters bad when he's trying to tell a story he has a problem getting his words out my daughter still can't say everything correctly and he's going to be 4

I think they talk when they are ready, my son understands everything and besides saying mama and daddy, he just started saying a few more words around 2 . Now I get yes and no, okay, ow, hi, up, down. He also has Spanish in his life constantly so idk if that has anything to do with it. Overall I'm not concerned. His pediatrician said she'd be concerned If he was 3 and not talking at all.

Also recently Noah seems to be trying to talk more, but it's a lot of babble...hoping it means more words haha

I’ve gone through this same exact issue with my oldest child she did speech therapy for one year from 2-3 yrs old. She’s now going on 4 and speaks a lot more thank god to therapy but she still has her moments when she goes mute and I’m here trying to figure out what’s wrong. I suggest lots of play dates with kids around his age to help him speak more. My daughter is in daycare since March and I’ve noticed an improvement in her speech

My dr doesn't worry until 4 my middle girl was very quiet and then one day she just bloomed

My son is 2.5 he has tubes in his ears cuz he had fluid that was thick like glue in his ears but never had an infection. Get his ears checked again. Speech has helped a ton for my son. He’s only been in maybe a bit more than a month and has 23 signs and 53 words now!!! A month ago he had barely 20 words And no signs. He goes to speech therapy twice a week and the difference is amazing
