Trying to explain to my MIL my need for space and her to consider what she says seems to be going in one ear and out the other.
This chat all began because she is refusing to accept being called gma so wants to be babcia (Polish for gma) which we said ok. Then she tried to tell me oh I can get him to say baba first which can be me! He'll say it before mama! I was upset and so then I said no baba is bottle, she goes well just call me gma bottle. I calmly said no I don't want us to confuse him when it is bottle. She then says well Polish you know, I said well we will stick with English, and she just kept going with nah I'll keep trying. And then I flat out said no you won't. Ugh! Just 1 of the many frustrating experiences I have had with her about "Her Patrick" also frustrating!!

Oh man, I totally get where you’re coming from. My DD has been getting so confused lately because her grandpa talks to her in polish, and my parents talk to her in Spanish and we speak English at home... (my FIL lives with us) so he constantly tries to teach her polish but I want her first language to be English and I don’t feel like he respects my wishes... it’s very frustrating.

@girlymama. Exactly the same!! FIL isn't even Hispanic but learned Spanish for fun and also thinks he is too young to be gpa (ps they are both 60s) so he wants to be called abuelo. Seriously why confuse my child when not even Hispanic. Ugh! So frustrated with his parents.

@heilwife317, it’s really confusing to children! I think they fail to realize that. Ahhh! Makes me wanna tip my hair out!

My mother didn’t want to be called grandma either... like wtf? It an honor! She’s almost 60. She decided on titta which she claims is Spanish for grandmas but I know it’s not! What ever I don’t really care.

@mrs.hibben sounds closer to aunt tia in Spanish. Why do grandma's have yo be so weird about this!
