What @pie., said. I’m not gonna teach my kid to fight. But I will teach him to fight back. No way is he gonna just stand there and take it.
I definitely think if somebody hits my son he has every right to defend himself .
Psssssh. Hit my child if you wanna, she knows the drill. We don’t start it, but we certainly finish it! Keep your hands to yourself or get hands put on you, PERIODT.
My parents told me that . but also explained to me that its self defense. But to never hit a person furst bc u are a bully in that case . ill teach my son the same way n my daughter
I feel like yes they should defend their self but also if they hit them back at school they both get in trouble so in that case I would tell my daughter to tell someone about the situation. My SO told my stepson that if his cousin hits him to do it back but at the end they both get in trouble so why does he even tell him that.
@dragon_ball_mommy not all the time i think it depends on the school. The person defending can just be let off . or they have a shorter supension time
I’ve been taught to “Hit back harder” which will be passed down .. teach them a lesson to never touch my kid again 🙂
@elijahsmom, well yea but you need to teach them to talk to you about what’s going on. If the teacher don’t do nothing about it then you can. I would want my child to defend herself but I also don’t want her to get in trouble.
@dragon_ball_mommy @girlmom. I feel like not hitting back sends a message that the child doing the hitting can keep doing it with no consequences. The whole "tell a teacher" thing only goes so far. Especially after a certain grade. And as parents we aren't always able to find out who the parents are of the other child.
Helll no. My kids will not be taught to sit back and allow someone to hit them. I’ve had many problems with this already, especially boys thinking they can hit girls and it’s a no go for me. I actually got into a fight with one of the boys moms because we had a convo about it and she said she refused to teach her son not to hit girls. As a mother to a boy child that is one of the first things I taught him, you don’t ever put ur hands on a girl. Girls are delicate and you treat them that way.
@girlmom. Oh okay .. Yeah my son has 31 kids in his class and has lunch with other classes. He is also in an afterschool program where all grades interact so it's a little different in my case. I didn't teach that rule until actual school. Daycare or PreK is a little different.
My son hit someone back in his class and he got in trouble too so I don’t really see how that’s helpful. At least not this young... We teach him to keep his hands to himself.
Is it driving anyone else crazy that it should be A PART of the problem not APART of the problem?
I'm not usually a member of the grammar police, but this one is bugging the shit out of me.
@modom16 for me it's not abt the which child will get in trouble part. I'm prepared for my child to get in trouble .. But I still feel like he shouldn't allow someone to do whatever they feel like doing to him. I make it very clear to my son that as long as he is defending himself, he will not be in trouble at home.
@jleona, I agree with you 100% on the fact that telling teachers & principals can only go so far! I’m going to teach my kids to stand up for not only themselves but for others who are being bullied! Oh & I’ll definitely be in contact with the parents one way or another ☺️ , I don’t play that shit when it comes to mine!
I agree I tried teaching my son to defend hisself but all he keeps saying I’m a lover not a fighter so I always have to go to the school and talk to the teachers if something happens 🙄 I think I over stressed the don’t be a bully thing now he won’t even defend himself
