Anyone have a child with autism? It’s been hard trying to find other moms to talk to about it.

Yeah I'll have to see if there is a local place. I'm friends with her school resource center. I might message her and ask

@nerdymommyplus2 I would and call other places like I suggested my son was diagnosed at 3yrs old and he had 1 round of testing where they just tried saying it was his speech then I called and asked places if they would reevaluate him see what they thought 2nd opinions never hurt and they said he was very high functioning and they could wait to diagnose or just do it then and start getting him what he needed then

@autism.mommy, My son is the only one in our family. It took my side of the family a bit longer to understand it. There would say he’s just a normal little boy but he’s not. An it took me awhile to get them to understand.

@rebecca33
Her insurance won't cover unless I have a referral I went around through the school for speech but I'm not having any luck with getting her tested for her quirks. Because not only is she excelling in school (minus speech) she's a model student and well behaved......
I might just call her insurance directly.

@nerdymommyplus2 you should be able to call around to physiologist and such see if you can find 1 that handles children with special needs and see if they can evaluate based on your own personal concerns

@autism.mommy
Right.
I can't get them to test my 6 year old because it's not affecting her school work. The school or her pediatrician won't. Tells me she'll outgrow her "quirks" but it's a major affect on our home life. That should count for something

I always knew something was different about my son. And I have family members who work with children with special needs and always told us that he might be autistic. I think it took us a couple months before we new that he was.

I'm pretty sure my daughter is on the spectrum slightly and I'm having issues getting her diagnosed 😥. I have a friend scout mom and it took her 2 years to get her son diagnosed Because he was only slightly on the spectrum
