Why Is My Blood Sugar Rising Overnight Despite Metformin?
So upset.. the metformin medications is not working to lower my sugar.. levels during the day when I eat are normal it’s overnight rising for no reason.. so they want to start me on insulin.. I have mixed feeling but will do what is best for myself and my son.. and in the back I have my MIL saying it’s all the doctors that want money from my insurance and how it’s what I eat and that at night it’s everything I eat from the whole day that when I sleep it’s rising which doesn’t even make sense so I have her stressing me out and my fiancé not saying a word and then telling me not to tell her anything about it.. when we live here and she ask me what’s going on.. ughh just ughhh 🤬😤😡 and now they want me to go once a week for 30 mins for stress test

High blood sugar can be very dangerous. Not taking the insulin could put you and your baby in a lot of danger depending on how high your sugar is getting. I'd listen to your doctors and your fiancé. Don't tell her anything and don't let her get to you.

Same thing happened to me ! I took the Insulin and within a few day and the right dose my number were perfect

don’t listen to your mother in law, mine tried to say the same thing because she hates doctors. I would though make sure you are possibly restricting your carbs. Like for example, I knew if I had some sweet potatoes too late at night my blood sugars would be high.

Ok here was my situation...I was on Metformin 500mg and it wasn't working 2wks later I was up to 1000mg and still wasn't working....they then added Glyburide 1.25mg for bed time when I take my snack b4 bed (1000mg for supper.....then the Glyburide at bedtime) this is an option b4 the insulin is suggested...I would be asking them if this Glyburide something you are able to do as well (controlled diet) my mornings was always between 100-110 but after meals "sord of ok" but not were they wanted them so added the Glyburide and now mornings are 80-90 and meals are 85-115 absolutely perfect.

Btw im 33 weeks 34 weeks tomorrow, i was on metformin meds four a day and it did not lower it, im on insulin bc i asked to be the metformin made me really sick it has lot of side effects i actually perfer insulin over the meds. And my numbers r now stable with insulin

@blessed2018w9, they want me to do 2000mg of metformin .. and it’s not lowering my sugar when I wake up “fasting period” it’s always between 98-110 and they want it below 90 when I wake up .. afternoon number are great they are always 113-115 should be below 140 save for dinner.. I asked about other meds and they don’t think it will work so it’s insulin for me.. but just dealing with my MIL who thinks she is a doctor and knows everything pisses me off cause she don’t even wanna hear wtf I have to say and it’s my life and my child’s life not hers!

Im only taking 10 2 times a day, then up it to 20 before bed. Seems be working!

@joannekk88 this was same with me with metaformin u should jus switch to insulin its so much better
