Anyone have any good advice on to get more milk supply? I keep pumping but it’s barely half an ounce from both sides together. I have been thinking about ordering some lactation cookies from milky momma. Any tips? Ps this is my first baby.
@laniejay, yeah when I was in hospital I have kaiser. I am going back though to get some more help they really helped me when I was there.
Have you seen a Lactation consultant? I highly recommend. Make sure you pace feed when you do feed with a bottle. .5 oz at one week is a good amount! That’s all he should be eating per feed - and he gets more breastfeeding than you can pump.
@drmalibu5150, sounds like he’s already getting used to the bottle. How long do you go between feeds? He might be getting too hungry so try nursing him when he’s not that hungry, like every hour pretty much. Don’t try to put him on a schedule, just nurse him whenever he’s fussy or right when he wakes up. Let him nurse to sleep. It’s hard in the beginning but this is a crucial time for establishing your supply so don’t give up. You can see a lactation consultant to check his latch and check his weight every few days to make sure he’s gaining weight.
@2sweetie, yes he’s nursing but gets frustrated since I had to supplement formula he dropped too much weight because he was jaundice. Latching is hard!
Are you nursing or just pumping? Lots of nursing is the best way to increase supply. Don’t let your baby sleep too long. Nurse nurse nurse!
@lunachar62, that’s what someone else showed me I will have to try it thank you!
@drmalibu5150, I know most grocery stores sell them. Saw some the other day at Publix.
@rebelprincesz24, thank you I will go find some. At this point I’ll try anything. I tried a pumpkin lactation cookie recipe tonight and it was ick!
I also recommend Mother’s Milk Tea, it doubled my supply in a couple days. Google and YouTube pumping tips
