What’s the deal with kumbutcha and pregnancy? I read mixed things on google and my midwife didn’t know much about it but suggested she would think store bought rather than homemade would be okay...anyone have opinions or have gotten advice from their midwives that maybe know more? I just want one so bad 🤤

@honeyxxbee, okay that makes sense! The one I would drink says guaranteed to have .5% or less alcohol as long as drank before the expiration date! Mine is organic as well so my main issue would be the pasteurization process but I just can’t help but think of all the benefits it would provide

@honeyxxbee, see my midwife said the alcohol content isn’t a concern it’s the non pasteurized issue however she said she would think the ones being sold in stores are tested and monitored for bad bacteria 🤷🏼‍♀️ idk what to doooo

@samanthaann yeah, maybe? I wasn't big on it before I was pregnant but I started craving it during pregnancy but chose not to. Now that I'm not pregnant I dnt desire it at all lol.

@jleona, see I never knew about the whole not supposed to drink it while breastfeeding, and I drank lots while nursing my son with no negative effects...I wonder if maybe just in moderation it would be okay

I read it's not good during pregnancy or breastfeeding. My doctor suggested for me not to take the risk since it does have that warning on the label. But a friend of mine still drinks it and she's pregnant so I guess it's just personal preference?
