Help so I take car seat safety seriously every time I take the kids car seat out I go to heath…

If she’s buckled in right, she shouldn’t be able to get out. I’m assuming it needs tightened. Maybe you could post a picture & ask again just to make sure?

@unicorn_mama my niece knows how to loosen her straps, lower the chest clip and get her arms out of hers. So it's not just blaming on her not being buckled up correctly.

@hbowen2018, how old? if she knows how to press the button to loosen her straps or has long enough arms to reach it- she may need a different type of seat.

@blessedmommy23, most times it’s a fit situation. Is the person checking at the health department a CPST? Definitely take a pic next time.

@laniejay she just turned three, she is in the correct seat for her size and age. Some kids are able to figure that out though. There have been many cases of children being in the correct car seats and getting out.

@hbowen2018, I meant another brand or type where she can’t reach the button. I’m not saying it doesn’t happen, but in most cases it’s an easy fix with the car seat. She must have really long arms to hit that button, my 4.5 yr old can’t even reach lol

@laniejay she just wiggles the chest clip down and leans up and reaches it and gets it just loose enough to get her arms out

@hbowen2018, @laniejay, @blessedmommy23, my daughter is only one and knows how to loosen her strap. I tuck the slack between the front end of the carseat and the back of my car’s seat so it’s not possible to press the button (she also can’t reach it when she’s strapped in anyway but maybe the child who’s able to reach theirs has really long arms) but just in case that’s what I do. If all that is done correctly, the child can’t possibly get loose!
