Sooo I put panties on my daughter today in hopes of potty training and she peed in the potty when she first got up but then she peed in her panties because she was too busy playing and wouldn’t go to the potty. I have a timer for every 15 minutes but every time I try to get her to go she tells me “no” and continues playing. She’ll use the potty if she’s not busy but when she’s playing it’s an act of Congress to even get her to go into the bathroom cause she doesn’t want to quit playing. She I just leave it be and keep changing her pull up (I put her back in a pull up so she didn’t pee in the carpet all day) or should I just take her to the potty? I don’t want to force her to use it and make this harder but I know she’s capable of being potty trained this early because she’s already been going to potty and stuff. Idk what to do at this point 😩😩😩
***UPDATE*** a couple hours after I put her back in pull ups she pulled them down and accidentally peed in the floor then tried running to the potty... 🤦🏻♀️

If you think she is ready I would keep trying but I wouldn’t force her into sitting on it and going. My daughter is 2.5 and speech delayed and she still won’t go on the potty. She screams and cries. I don’t want to force her and her become scared of it so we are taking a break and going to try again in 2 weeks. Could you bring the potty into the room your in and see if she would sit on it with a toy?

I read about where forcing a child to go on the potty versus the child actually wanting to go on the potty is actually not something you should do. They learn to fear the potty or even hate it. When she is really ready she will want to go even when she is playing. Cognitively, she just can't understand that now. Which is why I'm still waiting to start training with Lily. She has potty chairs and we read about going potty and we discuss what "wet and dry" are. I feel like Lily will be ready to start by Christmas. I hope.

@maddiesmommy16, I tried bringing it in the living room where I’m at but she just takes it apart. I guess we’ll take a break and try again in a couple of weeks

@lovelily, yeah I really don’t want her afraid of it or hate it so I don’t force her I just keep trying she’ll want to at times but then other times she just wants to play 😫
