My 2.5 year old is refusing to eat ever since his little sister care in the picture.
It takes him forever to eat and it frustrates me that I have to take him away from the table or I have to leave the table in order for him to eat. He wants me to feed him and I’m not doing it. I know he’s jealous of her.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Hey, I think I would feed him sometimes but not all the time and encourage him to be independent. You don’t have to feed him until he’s finish but just a little. He doesn’t understand that his younger sibling is incapable of feeding self. He just sees that you aren’t feeding him but feeding his sibling. I don’t think it’s wise to totally disregard how he may be feeling.
Or you could ask him what he would like to watch or if he would like to help you get a diaper or a outfit for his sister. Just so he feels he’s a part of helping you and still gets time with you too.
Have you tried to do one on one with him? Like maybe put her down for a nap. And just spend sometime with him. My little girl gets jealous when my 9 month old niece comes around. I usually have my niece on my lap. And my little girl will sit in front of me and loves when I have her interacting with playtime with my niece and I.
@withlovedkj, I do feed him at times but he is 2.5 years old and he eats on his own very well. I do not totally disregard my son or ever.
