@amberxleigh55, i would personally get rid of the shoulder strap covers so that the buckle can sit at armpit level. But that’s my personal opinion

Did the insert and shoulder straps come with the seat? If not, they need to go. If so, check the weight limit on the insert to see when it should be removed. Bump up the covers and chest clip.

Be sure there is more than an inch from the top of his head and the car seat.

Also, make sure the sweatshirt isn’t too bulky. You can test that by buckling him in, take him out without loosening the straps. Then take it off, put him back in. If you have to tighten the straps, it’s not safe.
