A little while back, maybe a couple weeks, my daughter had an appointment with wic, and she had a finger pick to test her iron levels, and that came back as an 8.7. The lady was talking about how it was low and would have to send a note to our pediatrician.
So basically I was freaking out because I felt bad.
Well we just want to her pediatricians appointment a couple days ago and she said that 8.7 is really low. So she said sometimes you can't trust the finger poke tests and that if possible and she had a good vein they wanted to do blood work because that's much more reliable. If not, they'd just finger poke again to see. Well they were able to find a good vein and she told me she would let me know in a couple days what the bloodwork said.
She just texted me and said she's not anemic, her levels were 11 and she said perfect.
I feel better now knowing that her iron levels are better and she won't need supplements.
