Mine slapped around that age to but it only lasted for a week or two. Every time he would slap I would just look him in the eyes and say “Mommy don’t like it you hit people it makes her sad” and I would say it in a voice where he knew it made me sad. He don’t bite cause he don’t have teeth

@mommytotheo, Lincoln has eight teeth ( 2 just broke through) so I’m hoping that’s why he’s biting and it will stop soon. I’ve even done fake crying and he laughs and hits again. He doesn’t know his own strength. He leaves bruises that’s how hard he can smack.

My daughter slaps all the time. Discipline isn’t really an option as they have little to no ability to actually understand what they’re doing is wrong. They are still clumsily moving through life right now. I’m sure he will figure it out in the next couple months to a year, but at 8 months there’s no way. The only thing you can really do is ignore it or walk away until he can understand punishment.

@unicorn_mama, thank you. That’s what I thought, but I have people telling me I need to start slapping his hand and I feel he’s way too young for punishment. When I put him in the packnplay it’s normally for me more than him because it hurts to where I tear up. lol

My daughter started hitting. I just grab her hand gently and tell her “ No, hitting. It hurts,. ( Person ) has owie “. Sometimes she stops and sometimes she doesnt. But i clearly understand she is too little to kind of get it.
