Ever have those moments where you just want to slap the stupid out of someone? I had an older lady approach me at Walmart this evening asking if the gentleman whom I'm shopping with is the father of my child (currently a week away from 8 months pregnant). Confused by her question I answer politely, "Yes ma'am, he's my fiancé." She looks at him who is a little ways up the isle and then back at me and quietly says ” You're lucky he's white." I look at her, completely shocked but still remain calm even though my blood is now boiling and ask ”Whay do you mean by that?" She laughs as if I had just told her a joke, "The black ones always leave" she says as she walks off. I'm left there jar of spaghetti sauce in hand about ready to knock a lady out, instead I walked to the restroom and cried for 10 minutes. Has anyone else as a mixed child or has mixed children themselves ever had to deal with things or comments like this?

That’s ridiculous that she felt comfortable enough to say that to you but she’s not completely incorrect in her statement, granted there are white fathers who definitely do abandon their children and though I 100% think she used the word lucky sparingly, it’s more of a common occurrence in the black community. Sometimes the truth hurts but she had no place approaching you, I think that she was extremely out of line in that aspect. Im not sure what her intentions were and Im not taking her side but its not like she just made that observation off the top of her head.

My son is mixed race, once a total waste of life who worked in a toy shop told my neice she couldn't have an elsa costume because she had the wrong hair.. Meaning because my jazzmine has an afro she couldn't wear the clip on hair that came with the outfit... I told my brother to take her outside and ive never gone so insane in all my life.. He took the costume with him (didn't pay) and I cussed her in all kinds of Italian, gypsi and English languages the racist cunt the manager came down and I told him about himself too and his shitty staff... He just apologised and tried to give me a discount voucher for anything in the store.. No lie I spat in her face and made it clear that if my neice wasn't stood outside and would have watched me be arrested I would have smashed her face

Oh my gosh! That’s awful. Maybe she’s speaking from experience is all I can think of. Im not saying it’s true, but some people have a bad experience or two with a red head and just think they are all evil, or with a white or Indian person for instance. I would have been tempted to say “no, he’s my brother... why?” I was pretty much tormented by this one boy in middle school and even still, if I come across someone that resembles him, I instantly get bad feelings- I can’t help it- it’s not his race though, it’s a combo of his features- that thankfully I don’t see too much.

Race has nothing to do with it. It's the person, not the color of their skin, that leaves Smh. The nerve of some people. That makes my blood boil. I have 2 deadbeats that abandoned me and each of my girls. Both of them are white. Smh. I would have slapped that lady.

I am mixed myself (black and white) and so are my kids (their dad is black and native). One time while shopping alone an old white lady asked me where my wedding ring was and said that she knew my BD was black because he wasn’t around and I didn’t have a ring on my finger. 😒
