Hubby found out that his work gives him 6 weeks paid “bonding time” when baby is born. He’s been saving 2 weeks vacation time all year for baby but now doesn’t have to use it for that but he will have to use his 2 weeks vacation before the end of the year or he will lose it.
This is our first baby. He’s essentially got 8 weeks off but I think his vacation time might be better used for getting our house ready before the baby comes, or maybe even doing a couple day getaway to our families cabin.
Do you think 6 weeks is too long for him to be off after baby? He’s still getting paid but he said he only wants to take 4 weeks. I say if they offer it take full advantage of it! Am I crazy for wanting him to stay home longer?

I say take that time off. He earned it.

He should take it, if he's getting paid why not enjoy that time off:)

Can he stagger the time? Like 4 and 4? Thats always nice. Then around the holidays he can be there to help and enjoy

@kambam, he can! I’m due right November 9th so if I have her that week and he took 4 weeks off he would go back the first or second week in December. But then his company shuts down for Christmas and New Years and he has two weeks off again lol

Awesome 🖤 my hubby gets 30 days paid paternity leave also, I was super surprised cuz I don’t hear of many places that do this!

Definitely not to long. My husband got 12 weeks off paid with both of my kids. They need to bond with the baby as well and get to know them. I don't blame you for wanting him to stay off longer.

I’d say take it all at once. The first few months are the hardest.
