Oh just a dumb ass dr that tried telling me that an emotional support animal needs the same qualifications and training as a service dog. An esa doesn’t have to be a dog for one. It can be any animal. Even a fucking llama or snake. All you have to have for an esa is a letter from a mental health provider stating it is needed for depression, anxiety, or ptsd. It needs NO training by ada guidelines. So I had to prove him wrong. HUGE difference in the 2.

@dcjc_x2, yes and the laws for each of them, like where they are allowed to go and stuff are different too. They aren’t the same thing at all.

So you want/need an emotional support animal and your doctor isn’t familiar with how to go about doing that?

@liz41395, I do need one. I have severe depression and anxiety. Where I can barely leave my house. It’s not that is doesn’t know how. It’s that he literally thinks/said it’s the same thing and ada requires training for specific service for an esa. Which is 100% wrong. He didn’t believe me, so I had to pull up the ada website and show him.
