When is the best time to do maternity photos?!! I will be 32 weeks Friday!
@heather3427 I had 2 (both coed) as well, out of state and here. My MIL hosted the local one and insisted on inviting all her friends so then when I told her the invite list was 70 people (knowing no way that many would come) she panicked and I got stuck organizing and diying decor, I even made the cake myself because she just couldn't imagine that many people. (Funny she hosts an Indy 500 party every year with about 70-80 people) we ended up with about 40 people there.
@heilwife317, oh I know!! I had to have two baby showers my last pregnancy! One in the town I lived in for friends and husbands family then my hometown of my friends and my family! It was exhausting!
@heather3427 that makes sense! Though I was exhausted after photos and exhausted after the shower so I would aim for different days. But that's just me. My best friend took us to 2 parks and had me walk about 2.5 miles so it was a lot. Parties take a lot out of me too because so much socializing is required.
@heilwife317, my baby shower is October 6 so I was gonna see if she would like to do them the morning of my shower or the morning after!
@heather3427 aww that's so sweet! My best friend graduated from photography school so we paid for our maternity pictures with her and she is gifting the birth and fresh 48 photos to us. :) Got to love great family and friends!
Just talk to cousin and see when works best for her in the next month (mid Sept to mid october) then maybe?
@heilwife317, my cousin does my photos!! She wanting to combine my maternity and family photos for the price of one!! And then a newborn session when he gets here for a gift!
@heather3427 so realistically you will have him around 38 weeks too. Do photos between 34 and 36 weeks then. Unless the swelling is bothering you a lot, maybe then you will want to do them earlier (32-34) (because as you get bigger that may just be more difficult for walking and photo shoot happiness).
In the end it is whatever time works best for you financially, with a photographer, and where you want that are also huge factors. We picked ours more off of our photographers availability than factoring in gestational weeks.
@heilwife317, I had no complications with my daughter I had her at 38 weeks and 1 day!! With this pregnancy I’m measuring almost 3 weeks ahead by fundal but his measurements are right one track!! Only issue has been swelling in my ankles and feet! And doctor took me off work due to what I do and the excessive standing with the swelling isn’t good for me and the pressure I’ve been having from the ligament pains!
We also did ours at 36 weeks professionally. When I hit 40 weeks I took a few myself just because I could and am so ready for him. Lol
Did you have your girl early? Any pregnancy issues then? Any now? These questions will help you the most in deciding when to do them. I had a smooth sailing pregnancy with no issues, 32 weeks baby shower and 36 weeks photos. But if you do have complications and such you are more likely to have baby between 36 and 38 weeks so then I would suggest photos at 34 to be safe.
Now! because you could go into labor earlier then expected, my sister went into labor at 33 weeks
I didnt do anything either 😩 total regret. No pictures, no belly cast. I think its because i didnt have a partner, felt weird about it all. As long as you get some pics!!
@kambam, I was thinking around 35 myself...but wasn’t exactly sure I’ve never done them! I didn’t with my first daughter and I wish I would have!
I would say when your bump is at its largest 35/36w but its totally up to you. When youre feeling good enough etc.
@heilwife317, oh how cute!
