RANT: i am not racist at all, i am a latina & my family has always taught me the color of ur skin…

i think it’s crazy that people are even racist. i don’t care if someone’s purple, blue, grey or green. as long as you’re a good person and have manners. i’ll be your friend.

i think people should focus on a persons attitude and how they carry themselves more than anything.

As far as dark vs light. It’s notoriously known that in minorities the “closer to looking white or mixed” the better. I’m a Latina I’m pretty pale, I’m talking I have to pay to be tan because I can’t tan, my great grandfather loved me because I was so light. My cousins, most of them, are darker not super dark but a lot darker than I am and he never acknowledged them. I was always told that you need to better the race not worsen it, meaning marry a white man and have babies with them not a dark man. Unfortunately it’s something very common in our communities people was to look white. I’m black communities you see women bleaching to appear “light skinned”. Until our society appreciates darker skin as beautiful and stops pushing down light skinned women as the beauty standard things will not change. Also, I wouldn’t say that within our own communities it’s not racism it’s more of them being prejudice.
