So mad.. so okay I have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes.. my doctor told me to see a specialist to help work on changing my diet..and if that doesn’t work I would be started on oral medication not insulin ..

I go see the specialist..she is telling me no I need insulin now and not oral medication. I am terrified of needles to start with.. and why she want me to stick myself even more if there is oral medication.. she didn’t even talk about meal plans or anything like my doctor said she would.. waiting for my doctor to call me back I’m not going back to this specialist again!

Have you been keeping a chart of when you test? Like I have a chart my dietitian gave me I have to write down every snack every meal and every time I test...my numbers is what determines if I need medication or not..I've been started on Metformin 500ng once a day because mine was high3..they use insulin as a last resort

So they was worried I was pre diabetic and put me on a "diet"

White potatoes limit to once a week.

Red and yellow potatoes 2 x a week and sweet potatoes as much as you like. The starch in potatoes turn into sugar so it will raise your sugar levels. My FIL is diabetic and that was the main thing raising his sugar level and we had no idea.

Did you see an endocrinologist or nutritionist? My endocrinologist referred me to a nutritionist and didn’t speak of diet. The nutritionist sucked though. Try a low carb approach, no fruit in the morning, and document what you eat for a bit so when you test your sugars you can see what affects it more.

I would try and find another nutritionist. I had GD with my son and the nutritionist was very helpful. She gave me a list of foods that I could eat and foods that I should avoid. She said as long as I could control my bs with diet, I wouldn't have to be put on any meds. My son was big tho, 10.3lbs at birth.

@joannekk88 good bc that is just not acceptable. Any good Dr (therapist, nutritionist, etc) would want what's best for their patient and want them to try everything possible before being put on medication.

I was diabetic before getting pregnant. They took me off of my oral and put me on insulin. I was scared to death. It’s not fun. And I really need to work on my diet. Praying for you that diet will help and you may be able to stop the needle
