Are you testing for ovulation so you know when you ovulated? I usually hold out, and test 14 days after I ovulate.

usually you would test, just so you don’t get false negatives, the day of your missed period. if you’re pretty regular then you’ll know somethings up.

also i would definitely recommend opks.

@caitlinsierralyttle, I wouldn’t go by just the app if your serious about having a baby. The apps take the average of the dates you put in. If I did, I would have always missed when I was ovulating. They had me at cd15 or cd16, but really once I tested it was cd11 or cd12.

I like the Easy @home brand off Amazon.com. They are cheap, and you can get a lot in a box. There’s also digital testers that cost more, but you only test in the morning with fmu.

@caitlinsierralyttle, opks are ovulation predictor kits. What they do is test for the LH hormone which is what your body releases to signal to release an egg. Once you get a positive on the test, your body will release an egg 12-36 hours. So usually once people get a positive they bd the next 3 days in hopes of catching the egg. Once you start to know more about your cycle, it’s also helpful to bd every other day up to your positive since sperm live 5 days in you.

I would say test with OPKs because an app is not accurate. They use the perfect dates of a 28 day cycle and if you’re different from that it won’t tell you correct dates. With me I tend to ovulate literally at cycle day 19-20 and we didn’t even figure that out until after I got pregnant.

Also don’t be discouraged if you don’t get pregnant right away it can take a healthy couple a year to conceive. But if you’re serious about making a baby start with OPks and I would suggest don’t test until you miss your period that way it’s less discouraging if it doesn’t work for you.
