My son was about a year but this is because he is a bit tooo active he could climb on a pub height table by that age so it was the safest option thankfully i was able to put bis bed in my room so it wasnt an issue i just did firm mattress sheet thin blanket no toys nonpillow and slept him side way so he couldnt roll off

My oldest coslept until around 21 months then we transitioned to a packnplay which didn't last but maybe 2 or 3 months, then I got a toddler bed. We made it a big deal. He loved paw patrol so I got him a paw patrol bed with the pillow and blanket. He loved it, at first we had to make it a game "I'm going to sleep in Noah's bed first" then he would want to fo it. Now his toddler bed has never left our room so I'm not the best advice for that. He does have a full size bed in his room and he goes between the two depending on the day.
