13 years ago today...I still remember it vividly. Me, my brother and sister, parents and 3 other families rode it out in the basement of our new house. We were in the process of moving so everything we owned was still in our old house. The roof caved in at our old house and we lost everything.

I still remember the sound of the 3 tornadoes that went by the house that we were riding out the storm in. No power. No water. We went to the bathroom in buckets. This went on for days.

I remember the first time we were actually allowed to go out after they lifted the curfew and look at the damage. I was only 10 but I didn’t recognize anything. To this day, nothing looks the same.

So many lives lost. I will never forget this day. The tears. The smell. The fear.

13 years but I still get so emotional thinking about this day. If anyone has any stories about their experience, please share.
