Okay, I don't want to be that judgemental mom but I honestly just saw a child that was at least 5 with a pacifier in her mouth. I tried to tell myself maybe she had a developmental reason for it but then she pulled the pacifier out and started talking to her dad in full sentences asking for things in the checkout line. I just don't get how this happens. I don't want to judge but I'm having trouble with this one. I did meet mom once who had an obese child and she bought him a teething necklace because he seemed to always want something in his mouth. I guess he dropped weight like crazy so she said she knew it was healthier for him in the long run. Maybe it was something like that.

I’ve seen a child like this and was literally in shock. Also at my kids school there are parents that pick up their 5 year olds with strollers and the kid walks out the school and hopes in for a ride home 😑. My daughter be like I thought you said we got rid of the stroller because I was too old so and so is older then me their mom picks them up with their stroller, like not in this house girlfriend.

I try not to judge other moms but I just want to cry when I see an obese toddler. I was at Walmart a few months ago and saw this toddler in the shopping cart and he was huge! I wanted to cry I felt so bad for him. Then I saw his mom and she was huge!! Wouldn’t you want better for your kid?! Obviously she was feeding him the same junk she eats. Poor kid is going to have healthy issues his entire life because of his mom.

My best friends daughter was like this til she was 6. It used to frustrate the hell out of me. And everytime she would lose one, she would have the worlds biggest meltdown and no matter the time of day or night they would travel the county side to buy her a new one. If she didn't start school and get teased I think she would still have it. There was only so much I could say to them though coz it wasn't really my place.

My middle son has a pacifier still. He speaks in full sentences as well. He has severe reflux and a pacifier at night helps keep the acid down and prevents him from waking up puking. 🤷🏼♀️ he doesn’t walk around with one or anything, but there are many things not visible to people that could be going on. Can it be poor parenting too? Sure, but how do you know?
He also gets in the stroller if we are out all day or for longer strolls. Why? Because he burns too many calories that we have to fight to get in him to begin with.
If you saw my child on the streets, you’d have no clue he has medical issues. In fact, you’d think he’s advanced for his age (which he is intellectually). Physically you’d have no clue either because we work HARD to ensure it. There’s a lot that goes on behind the scenes. My point is- you don’t know. Be glad they’re things you have had a choice in and never had to consider for a better quality of life for your kid.
