I read the "mucus plug" is not really a "plug" and often doesn't indicate anything - that it's just mucus/discharge build up. And often reoccurs and "comes out" after alot of build up, forming a thick plug like appearance..???

Mine started falling out at 37 weeks and didn’t stop - I think it’s just the cervix slightly opening and the goop falls out - it’s there to prevent infection

@followthegreenlady Yes, a lot of women panick or assume it means labor etc. I've seen many post like " help I'm losing my mucus plug".... I would think the further along you are, the weight would cause more discharge - but overall I think we get a lot of discharge anyways.

Correct. It regenerates itself. The only time it falling out is significant, is if there is blood accompanied with it.
