Was asked by a friend if I plan on using spanking as a form of punishment, then got called an abusive parent. Look snowflake, I love my son just as much as my mother loved me. When I acted out of line, I'd get spanked. It was never with an object, it was never donr hard enough to leave a mark, just a swat to prove a point that what I was doing was not okay and that this is what I get for not listen the first two times ie: 1. Verbal warning. 2. Time out or things were taken away. 3. Spanking. Did I fear my mother? Absolutely not, I respect her for what she did. There's a line between not punishing your children and have them become "those kids" to beating the hell out of your child. Then the middle ground where see nothing wrong with simple spanking to keep my son in line when the first two methods don't work. Anyone else feel the same or have similar thoughts, or am I just a just setting myself up to be a bad parent?

I saw this awesome video of a child calling the cops on his mom for "abusing" him and when the cop arrived the mom explained that she spanked the kid for getting out of line. Boy was that cop mad - he pulled the boy aside and gave him a good earful on the difference between "abuse" and "being disciplined", and let him know if he was his father that boy would be receiving round two for calling the cops in the first place. Lol. ❤️

Spanking doesn't work on my son, he just becomes even more defiant. I give him choices instead, he can do what I've asked him nicely to do and then do what he would like after or he can go to his room, and/or lose one of his privileges (cartoons, tablet etc) Often he'll choose to listen and behave.
It really just depends on the individual child.

I do think every child is different. I’ve tried different things with my son, he’s just so stubborn! Things aren’t as black and white as I thought they were before I was a parent.

Ive learned several several people do not know the difference between discipline and abuse and their children are the ones who act the worst!!!
