I see a lot of mom-shaming going around lately.
Stop judging other mothers and making them feel bad because they don’t parent the way you do. If it isn’t dangerous, leave it alone.
If you see a mother with a child not in the car seat correctly, tell her. But tell her nicely. If you see a mother with her small baby using a blanket in the crib, tell her. But tell her nicely. Speak up if you see a mother unknowingly putting her child in danger. But. Do. It. Nicely.
Not all mothers are fully educated on car seat and crib safety. If they decide not to take your advice, that’s on them. There’s consequences they will have to face and learn from. I don’t know why so many women go straight for downgrading when they see another mother making a mistake.
And if a mother comments on your picture or post offering you advice and safety tips, understand she’s trying to help you. Not criticize you and hurt your feelings.
Some moms breastfeed, some moms formula feed. Some use cloth diapers, some use disposable. Some co-sleep, some have their babies sleep in a crib. Some work full time jobs, some are stay at home moms. Some moms had medicated births, some went all natural. Some moms gave birth vaginally, some had a c-section.
The point is, we are all still mothers trying to do the best for our babies. We all want the same thing, healthy & happy little ones. Every parenting style is different, and that is okay. You are not a perfect parent. None of us are.

I’ve never seen someone point out car seat safety or sleep safety rudely. I see people getting defensive left and right about it and not taking advice. Parenting style is not the same thing as child safety.

Approach is everything! I’ve seen some moms attack the other mother for something and to me that’s not advice at all. It’s a self righteous attitude. I agree with everything you said. Give advice kindly. If it’s not accepted or if it’s perceived wrong then at least you did your part. 🙂
