So I need to vent.

I live in New Mexico, which is a very mom oriented state.

My brother in law and the mother of his children are in a custody battle. My nephew has never been put in harm's way while in my brother in law's, my husband's, my mother in law's, ect care. When he was 2 months old (my nephew) his mom dropped him on my mother in law's door step and said she didn't want him. He was acting weird and they took him to child services (CYFD around here but I know in Cali we called it CPS) he tested positive for many drugs, including methamphetamines and heroin. Temporary custody was awarded to my mother in law (my brother in law at the time was out of state working).

So now fast forward to April 2018 my nephew is 2 and a half and my husband and I had done more for him in the less than six months living here then his mother ever had. She lies to the judge saying he'd never been tested nor had tested positive for any drugs at CYFD. She refused to take a drug test and has been in and out of jail for drugs. The judge still gave her back custody after abandoning him! So we hadn't heard anything at all since April. So naturally we have been worried. I finally talked to someone helpful at CYFD and they told me they would do a wellness check. My friend just started there and she was put on a case of a baby being left in a car alone on a 99 degree day with the windows cracked an inch. It was my nephew. He is alive but still in his mother's care! She's pregnant and left him in the car to get high! She tested positive for drugs! I know my friend shouldn't have given me this information but I am so fucking pissed! How can this b🤬h still have custody of him?! So sick of the crooked ass lawyers and judges in this fucked up county.
