RANT ! My son has been doing this thing where he wants my full attention and will even sometimes grab my face and turn it towards his. It’s very domineering male behaviour and I’m positive it’s something he’s picking it up from school ?! I really wish parents would stop forcing gender stereotypes on their sons where they expose my son to their toxic masculinity issues.

That's an odd thing to say. I doubt parents are teaching their sons, they need to grab people's faces when they want their attention. I really don't think that has anything to do with "forcing gender stereotypes."

Aren't you the same person trying to force your kid to like doing math for some random career? Interesting post.

I doubt that comes from “forcing gender stereotypes” or toxic masculinity. Kind of an odd thought, so I’m curious as to what makes you assume that it stems from that.

Both my kids (a boy and a girl) have done that-pretty sure it’s normal kid behavior. Just teach him how to gain attention appropriately.

Please tell me you are joking.. literally almost every kid does this.. girl or boy..

I think it’s easy to blame the school or blame other children when our child has undesirable behaviors. But they will be in school for many years so we, as parents, need to take the responsibility to teach and model appropriate behaviors. How old is your son? Both my children (girls) did/do this and I remind them to use their words, not their hands. I also make sure to make eye contact with them and engage in conversations (as possible) so they don’t feel the urge to grab my face in order to make eye contact.

I’m glad to hear this happens to other parents too. My daughter NEVER behaved like this and I sometimes wish I had another girl instead.

@mathmom, That’s so messed up.

@mathmom, Your positive your sons picking it up from school.....Right....Rather then blame the school you should look at your son when he’s speaking to you. Exposing your son to toxic masculine issues....your son wants you to pay attention to him how is that toxic? Wow the fact that you wish you’d had a girl instead screams “ISSUES”. Your poor child I hope you don’t teach him you resent him that’s worse then your theory about people forcing toxic masculine behaviour on him 🙄 It’s legitimately not a normal mindset to wish you’d had a different child.

@mathmom that's probably one of the meanest things you could possibly say.. maybe the problem is you.. maybe give your children more love and attention? Stop blaming everyone else for your child's behavior.. and if you can't be happy with whatever gender you are given maybe it's time to get your tubes tied?
