Been on the phone a bit today regarding not getting my maternity pay as agreed. Rang citizens advice who put me through to acas(?). They've told me it could be classed as maternity discrimination 😱 still on the phone though. Next number is HMRC. I just want to know if I can apply a bit of pressure to my job into getting my money immediately rather than wait four weeks. If I wait four weeks I'm going to get a bucket load of bank charges (daily fees and penalties) and if that's the case - will my workplace be liable for them charges; having not paid me from the agreed date (19th July)

I'm having problems with my work too atm. I left back in June but they carried on paying me without me knowing. It's paid into my bill account so it all went out on bills. When I found out the told me to say id left in July to stop them asking for the money back. I did this.. Last week I got a letter saying they may ask for the money back 😴. I like how we have to suffer because of their mistakes!!
If work agreed to pay you then regardless of whether you want online & said you were in mat leave you should have been paid. Are you working for the NHS?? did you sign any paper work before you left for maternity to say the date of payments? x

@carlybeanw Have you spoken to a proffessional about it. If the money has already gone what are they expecting you to do? Pull it back out of thin air?
I've rang my job and they are backdating it. May take time to process but I should get it next week. Hopefully in time for my first chunk of bills. They couldn't deny me it because the 19th of July was on their system, just hadnt been clarified by anybody online x

@clarelushx so far they haven't said anything about the money. It was a mistake on their part. They basically didn't put me down as leaving even thought I signed paper work to say I was leaving in June. No doubt I'll have to pay it back & be out of pocket because of them. Makes me angry! I'll be speaking to someone as all as they send a letter x
