My SO has mentioned me getting a job because he’s “struggling” I understand that he took a pay cut and we have expensive bills and he worries. I don’t mind to work at all but I literally have no one to keep our daughter, daycare would take my entire check basically, and the thought of leaving my daughter just really hurts my heart. I have no car to even get to work either. I want to help but right now I just feel like it would be more of a hassle than it’s worth. He has around $4500 in the bank and we’re talking about selling our house and living somewhere cheaper until we can decide to either build or but a new one. I just think there are other ways to handle this situation right now. Am I wrong for not wanting to start a job just yet?

You can do a work from home job . And you wont have to leave her and theres more income

@elijahsmom, what kind of jobs can you do from home that also allow for constant interruptions to tend to a child? The only uninterrupted time would be while the child naps... I wouldn’t want to pay someone to do a particular job and have them actually watching their child the majority of the time.

Is it possible to work opposite shifts so you can avoid paying for daycare and share the car? If your husband is unable to pay all of the bills then I do think you’re wrong for not being willing to look for a job that could fit your schedule to bring in extra money.

One check would go to daycare but then there’s the other one. & if you get on somewhere with good pay that would be nice. The only thing is finding a job with hours that’ll work around getting your daughter and most company’s don’t care.

@scruffy.nerf.herder you can do transcripting work all your doing is revising what people say or write . And get paid per one you do and each one pays different . My mom make like between 20 -50 dollars a day. Most weeks bc u can do it whenever and you can tend to your child . As long as its nothing to be on the phones like a call center. Then u can do it and some that are like a call center at home will allow some background noise

We do what @ek620, said. About to start anyways once I take my drug test. We work 12 hour shifts opposite days. Yes I will miss my husband but gotta do what you gotta do

Do you have a ymca? Some ymca offer day care for 3 hours while you are working. It's not great but it's some $ without losing $

You could look for part time where he's with her while your at work and your with her while he's at work. That's what we do. Hubby works 2pm-1030. I work 830am-1pm. I don't bring home much but what I do helps a lot.

@ek620, my brother and his ex did this for several years with my niece. Her mom worked nights at a hospital, so would nap with my niece during the day, and then try to make up a couple more hours sleep in the early evening when my brother got home. My brother got the easier job of taking care of her overnight. They are both busy professionals and made it work for them.

@scruffy.nerf.herder, Yes! It absolutely can be done. People just need to be willing to make some sacrifices whether they want to or not. After all, that’s part of being an adult and a parent.

@elijahsmom, it sounds like something like that might be doable for OP. It wouldn’t ring in a ton of money, but then she wouldn’t have to worry about daycare cost. @caseyann19, check out what @elijahsmom said in previous post.

Work at a daycare? Free childcare and you’re there making money. 👀

Can you afford to work from home?
All you need is a computer p.c and internet to apply.

Thanks ladies for all of the wonderful ideas! I don’t mind at all to work I just dread leaving my daughter if I don’t have to. Right now we’re not in a huge struggle he’s just worried about money and I understand why he does it but for now we’re still okay. I tried selling Avon for months but I was losing more money than I was making. I’ve read a little bit about the transcript things and really want to do it but I currently don’t have a computer or internet 😔 I’ve also thought about working at a daycare but I haven’t done much looking into it yet. The issue we have with sharing a vehicle until I can get one is the fact that I can’t drive his truck very good because it’s a 6 speed and they make me extremely nervous. We can’t do the opposite shift thing either because he never knows what time he will be home and he’s also a volunteer firefighter and is always afraid that if he’s home alone with her like that and he needs to run a call he won’t be able to. It’s all very frustrating and complicated but I appreciate all of the comments and suggestions!
