Any moms on here take Zoloft while pregnant? And how was your outcome? I take 100mg of it and idk…

My step daughter was born with heart defects cause of Zoloft.

@bubbys.mommy, I hear a lot of mixed reviews on it, drs say every pregnancy has a 3-5% risk of baby being born with a heart defect and that Zoloft doesn’t increase the likelihood at all, I’m just so lost on what to do. Before I got on Zoloft I was having panic attacks regularly my heartbeat racing, blood pressure would rise, my hands would cramp up sometimes when it was real bad...and I know that’s extremely unhealthy for baby too

@samanthaann, that’s why her mom was put on it. She was only 17 so she just took it and when my step daughter was born she was 2 months early and had a huge hole in her heart that didn’t close by itself until about a year or so ago and she’s now 6yrs old. With her second baby she refused any kind of medicine except tums because her first nearly died she was in nicu for long time.

@bubbys.mommy, how can they be certain it’s from the Zoloft? Because like I said every woman has that 3-5% background risk and Zoloft is not thought to increase that risk

@samanthaann, cause she didn’t have a heart defect all throughout her moms pregnancy with her until she started taking Zoloft and all her nurses and drs told her that’s what it was. She didn’t start it until the end of her pregnancy and the baby was fine til then

@bubbys.mommy, hmm well definitely going to talk to my dr to see what they recommend, I know the anxiety symptoms can be very detrimental to baby, thanks for the info

@samanthaann, she’s a normal healthy kid now but she was in and out of hospitals and nicu and dr offices for the first 6 months-1yr of her life.

I'm taking zoloft. My psychiatrist and OB said it's just fine. I'm feeling fine so far

I took it with my son too.

@julyfourthbaby, thanks for the input mama! From what I’ve read on webmd, drugs.com, and a few other websites Zoloft does not increase the risk for major malformations, miscarriage, etc

You should be just fine. 😘 I'm no Dr but I would really not stress it!
