We have a birthday party tomorrow for my husband's "cousins" daughter and I'm going empty handed (aside from a card). I know giving is not about receiving, but I'm tired of going out of my way for these people and they can't even be bothered to pick up the phone when we call or attend anything for our daughter.

@emily526, yeah i completely get it! We always get our nephew birthday gifts or Christmas gifts. My kids unfortunate don’t really know him or his parents, they never have time for us. They are always spending time with my sister in laws family. It defiantly makes life hard when you have family blood or not that’s doesn’t like to be involved

@reevespartyof4 I said to my husband, I will always get our nieces gifts for holidays and birthdays because they're our nieces. But this party isn't even technically family. We're Puerto Rican so we tend to have "cousins" that aren't blood. That's who this is for a "cousins" daughter. I've only met her a handful of times myself because it seems if the event isn't for them they don't show up. I wouldn't know what to get her anyway and I just don't see a point.

I’m starting for feel this way about my husbands Mom side of the family. We show up to almost everything we get an invite too and they can’t bother to show up for anything. The last 2 years they haven’t shown up for a birthday party or anything along that line. It’s just irritating so I totally get it!
