Breastfeeding is great one day & a nightmare the next. I am beyond stressed out. When my son panics while feeding, shaking his head frantically, bawling & scratching at my boob, I want to cry! My milk is not sufficient. I feel like I’m failing at this & it is causing me a great amount of depression. I gave up tonight after an hour of trying to breastfeed & gave him some formula. He’s happy now. I want to stop breastfeeding before it makes us both go crazy.

Don’t. My son still does this from time to time. I’ve noticed it’s when he’s too sleepy and he gets cranky.

@ataraxia, my sons father is also not supportive in any way. He will tell me I need to feed him more or I’ve overfed him. He thinks he knows all the answers.. he yelled at me saying I’m not patient & mumbled good job mom.. clearly not helping. I am seriously stressed & depressed from all this & believe my milk won’t let down. Maybe that’s why my son freaks out? I try pumping & only get a half ounce each side, then nothing. I have tried things that claim to help with production.. Idk what to do.

@lizsouthwick, I go through the same. He’s only 2 weeks so that’s not bad as far as pumping goes. I’d try him at the breast as much as possible because my doc said their still learning to latch and your supply is still regulating it can take up to 6 weeks. Also even if it isn’t much try to supplement with the pumped milk. That’s what I do. I’m sorry your husband is more supportive because I almost gave up as well when my son was two weeks. Ignore your husband and focus on your little one men don’t understand anyway. Don’t beat yourself up because you’re trying and care enough to be upset and it’s okay to supplement while trying to get the hang of breastfeeding.

My experience was similar and I breastfed for 6 weeks. I finally put him on formula because I couldn't keep up with his demand and the stress alone was killing my supply. It also aggravated my PPD and anxiety. A happy Mama is important at this stage and bottle feeding helped me be the mom that I knew I could be. I was sad and angry that I couldn't breastfeed and provide for my son but he is happy and healthy and I am happy and healthy and that is what matters. We beat ourselves up too much about insignificant things. Just enjoy this time and if that means stop breastfeeding or reevaluate it then please do. We are all here to support you and no one has a manual for any of this

I’m in the same boat right now! And they pull on the nips and it makes it hurt! On top of thinking your not producing enough... it is depressing, it’s like, I don’t want to starve my baby! But I want the bonding experience sooo bad! 😫😖

@mortonmining, it’s so hard.. I didn’t know it would be😭 I’m still breastfeeding all the time but have given an ounce of formula twice.. when I was literally crying like a crazy woman, I had to lol. Fed IS best. And a happy momma IS also!
